Siddharth Nigam woke up to the sound of his alarm blaring in his ear. He rubbed the sleep off his eyes and swung his legs over the side of the bed. His morning routine was a well-oiled machine, every step precise and calculated.
He began by setting his watch, then moved on to his exercise routine, and finally, got ready for work. His eyes scanned the room, ensuring everything was in its place. His perfectionism was a trait that had been ingrained in him since childhood.
As he made his way to the dining room, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, mingling with the sound of sizzling vegetables. His stomach growled in anticipation. He walked into the dining room, where his family was already seated.
"Good morning, Mom," Siddharth said, his deep voice a contrast to his mother's warm smile.
"Good morning, beta," Vibha replied, "How are you today?"
Siddharth nodded curtly, his expression unreadable. "I'm fine, Mom."
Abhishek, Siddharth's elder brother, smiled charmingly. "Good morning, everyone! What's the plan for today?"
Siddharth's gaze flickered towards Abhishek, a hint of amusement in his eyes, but his expression remained neutral. "Just the usual, Dada. Work."
Vaishnavi, Abhishek's wife, rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "You know Siddharth's plan is always the same β work, work, and more work."
Siddharth's gaze flickered towards Vaishnavi, a hint of warning in his eyes, but his expression remained neutral.
As they sat down for breakfast, Ahana, the two-year-old daughter of Abhishek and Vaishnavi, toddled into the dining room, her curly hair bouncing with each step.
"Chachu!" Ahana squealed, launching herself into Siddharth's arms.
Siddharth's expression softened, a rare sight, as he hugged Ahana tightly. "Good morning, baccha."
Vibha smiled, watching the interaction between Siddharth and Ahana. "Siddharth, you're so good with Ahana. You should consider having kids of your own someday."
Siddharth's expression turned cold, his eyes narrowing. "I don't think that's a good idea, Mom."
Vaishnavi raised an eyebrow. "Why not, Sid? You'd make a great father."
Siddharth's gaze flickered towards Vaishnavi, a hint of warning in his eyes. "I'm not interested in having kids, Bhabhi. Let's just drop it."
The conversation was steered towards more mundane topics, with Abhishek discussing the latest business deals and Vibha talking about her NGO. Siddharth listened intently, his expression unreadable.
As breakfast came to an end, Vaishnavi realized that Siddharth's mood seemed good today. He was trying to make small conversations with everyone, which was not usual for him.
"Hey, Sid, what's going on?" Vaishnavi asked, a teasing glint in her eye. "You're being unusually talkative today. What do you want from us?"
Siddharth's expression turned neutral, his eyes narrowing. "I forgot to tell you all something. We have to leave for Goa tonight."
The room fell silent, with everyone staring at Siddharth in surprise.
Vaishnavi's eyes widened. "Tonight? But I don't have any outfits ready! And there's so much work to do β pack clothes, Ahana's things..."
Siddharth's expression remained neutral. "Mannat's having a destination wedding in Goa. We'll be staying there for up to a week. All the pre-wedding ceremonies and rituals will be held there."
Vaishnavi's eyes sparkled with excitement. "A week in Goa sounds amazing! But we have so much to do before we leave."
Siddharth's gaze flickered towards Vaishnavi, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Don't worry, Bhabhi. I've already taken care of everything. The designers will have our outfits ready by tonight."
As the conversation came to an end, Siddharth stood up, his eyes scanning the room. "I'll leave for the office now, Dada. Let's go."
Abhishek nodded, standing up. "Yeah, let's go, Sid."
As they walked out of the dining room, Vaishnavi turned to Vibha. "I'm so excited for this trip!β
